FAQ

What kind of JVA project is this?

This is a project to voice act the characters and scene from Noel the Mortal Fate. It is originally unvoiced, so we have some liberty in the character interpretation without having to mimic any voices.

What kind of game is it?

It is an action-packed, shounen-ish (even if the MC is shoujo) game. So you can expect the followings:

  • various characters
  • very wide range of emotions from the characters (calm, angry, sad, etc.)
  • some screaming (fighting, anger, etc.) and a bit of implied gore and violence

So, if you want to try VA-ing for shounen stuffs, this project might be for you :)

OK, I'm interested. What should I do to join?

You can send your audition through the forms noted in each character's card above. I will send you a DM if you are selected for the role.

What sort of criteria are you using to pick the casts?

I'm looking for people who:

  • does not mind not being provided romaji;
  • comfortable in figuring out and shaping the characters themselves with minimal direction;
  • does not mind committing until the end of the project

For note, I don't have any particular image on how a character should sound like in my mind. The casts are free to shape and interpret the characters themselves. So, I just pick based on whether I think the interpretation works and the Japanese pronunciation and intonation is understandable enough for me.

How long do you think the project will be?

So, the whole gameplay for Season 1 is around 3 hours. After removing the gameplay and only taking the narration, it was around 2 hours. Like the previous project, I divided it into parts and removed some lines that I can do without. In the end, it's 12 parts, around 8 mins long in average. Optimistically, each part should take around 2 weeks, so should take 6 months in total. But, yeah, that's the optimistic estimation of course. :)

Well, I do think I can commit until the end, but sometimes life happens, you know?

Yes, I totally understand. That's why commitment here just means that you will do your best to do your parts and keep the communication going when it's hard to do so. I would really like to not have the casts step down, but some times that's the best decision for all involved. So, in such cases, I might ask the cast to step down. (It has happened in my previous project, btw.)

Will you direct the voice acting, or are you going to give feedback on the submission, and ask for retakes maybe?

I will definitely ask for retakes when I found there was misreading or the intonation or pronunciation sounds too unnatural (for me). I generally am not going to direct the voice acting, but I might give some advice when appropriate, and it's up to the cast to retake or not. As for feedback, I will only give it when explicitly asked for.

How does it differ from 8th Alice?

Beside the obvious different genre of the game, the execution of the project is also a bit different:

  • There will be audition for each open roles (there was only voice sample check in 8th Alice)
  • I prepared all of the video scripts beforehand, instead of doing it along the way. It helps me plan better and hopefully it can also reduce the waiting time for the casts.
  • The casts are also expected to commit until the project is finished (I asked the casts whether they want to continue after each parts in 8th Alice)
  • The videos will be uploaded to Let's Voice channel instead of my personal channel.

And other minor improvements that I learned when organizing 8th Alice.

Can I help with anything else?

Whoa, thank you! Just let me know if you would like to help with something!
